The role

We have no shortage of expertise. We have no shortage of recipes. We have no shortage of things to say. What we need help with is making people stop scrolling long enough to care about them.

We are looking for a hands-on Senior Social Content Producer / Creative Lead who understands modern short-form content deeply and can help turn nutrition, weight loss, GLP-1 education, food, motherhood, and everyday life into social content that feels fresh, culturally relevant, entertaining, and unmistakably Ilana.

This is not primarily a social media management role.

We are not looking for someone whose greatest strength is scheduling posts, filling a content calendar, writing captions, or finding trending audio.

We want someone who can hear:

"Protecting muscle during weight loss."

…and immediately see five dramatically different ways to make someone care about it.

Someone who understands

hookscuriositytensionvisual storytellingpacingpersonalityhumoremotioncultural relevancepattern interruptswhy someone keeps watchingwhy someone sends a Reel to a friendwhy certain content creates followers while other content simply creates views

But equally important: we do not want fearmongering, manufactured outrage, misinformation, or fake controversy.

The creative challenge
How do we make responsible nutrition content feel bold?

What we need help solving

Ilana already has a large audience, years of content, established businesses, significant nutrition expertise, and a clear point of view.

But we believe the creative packaging can get much stronger.

Sometimes nutrition content can begin to feel:

We want someone who helps us push past that. We want more:

surprisepersonalityvisual storytellingtensioncultureentertainmentrecognizable recurring formatsstronger creative choices

…without sacrificing Ilana's credibility.

We want to develop a social style where eventually someone sees the first few seconds of a piece of content and thinks:

"This feels like Ilana."
The raw material

First, meet the account you'd be leading

Before you write a word of your application, spend real time inside Ilana's content — this is what you're dealing with. Everything we ask for (the territories you'd own, what you'd stop doing, the five Reels you'll critique) starts with studying the feed the way you would if the job were already yours.

A few recent posts, embedded live from the feed. The full picture — and the five Reels you'll critique — lives on the profile. That's where your audit should happen.

This role is also strategic

We have already done significant internal work studying Ilana's content, performance, audience, businesses, and potential recurring content territories.

But we do not consider our current strategy finished. We specifically do not want to hire someone just to execute a content framework we hand them.

One of your first responsibilities will be to independently study the account and help answer:

The question
What should Ilana become famous for on social?

We want you to help identify

You should be comfortable looking at our existing thinking and saying:

"This is right." "These two things should actually be one." "This isn't strong enough." "I'd stop doing this." or: "You're completely missing this opportunity."

We want someone with an opinion.

What you'll actually do

This is a creative strategy + production role. You will:

Look well outside nutrition for inspiration, including

Help determine what she should

What "edgy" means to us

We are not looking for controversy for controversy's sake. We are looking for creative tension.

There's a big difference between:

Expected"Here are three sources of protein."
Ours"Your appetite disappeared. Your protein probably did too."
Expected"Here are some healthy Trader Joe's options."
Ours"Trader Joe's fooled you with this one."
Expected"Here's a satisfying lunch."
Ours"If your healthy lunch has you digging through the pantry at 3 PM, it didn't do its job."
Expected"Maintaining muscle is important during weight loss."
Ours"The scale is dropping. But what actually left?"

The nutrition underneath the concept needs to remain responsible and evidence-based. The packaging needs to make someone curious enough to hear it.

We want the person who understands that distinction instinctively.

The creative standard

Before we make a piece of content, we should be able to answer:

  1. Why would someone stop?
  2. Why would they watch the next five seconds?
  3. Why would they finish?
  4. Why would they send it to somebody?
  5. Why is Ilana uniquely credible saying it?
And one more
Could any wellness creator have posted this?

If the answer is yes, the concept probably isn't finished.

How we want to work

A major goal of this role is to make content creation less overwhelming for Ilana.

There may be hundreds of ideas in the broader content system. Ilana should never have to process hundreds of ideas. The team handles the complexity behind the scenes.

By the time Ilana is involved, she should receive approximately 5–8 strong concepts at a time that are ready to shoot.

We generally think about production in three ways:

Talk

Direct-to-camera
  • expertise
  • opinions
  • nutrition education
  • reactions
  • commentary
  • personal philosophy

Do

Ilana doing something visually
  • cooking
  • shopping
  • building a meal
  • comparing products
  • eating at a restaurant
  • feeding her family
  • demonstrating a concept

May use voiceover recorded later.

Capture

Moments we don't manufacture
  • family
  • travel
  • motherhood
  • behind the scenes
  • funny moments
  • business
  • personal transformation
  • spontaneous reactions
  • real life

Part of your job is understanding which ideas belong in which bucket.

The production rhythm

We anticipate approximately 20–25 hours per week during the initial engagement, although exact hours may fluctuate with production needs.

We expect approximately 1–2 in-person production/shoot days per week in Los Angeles.

The goal is not to have Ilana filming every day. The goal is to develop a system where a small number of focused production sessions can generate a meaningful amount of great content.

We want someone who makes those shoots:

organizedcreativefastfunproductive

…rather than exhausting.

What success looks like

Yes, we care about views. But we do not believe the highest-view video is automatically the best video.

We also care about

qualified new followersretentionsharessavescommentsprofile visitsDMsemail leadsbook interestprogram interestpurchasesrevenue

A video with 600,000 views that attracts thousands of highly relevant followers may be substantially more valuable to us than a 2-million-view video that mostly attracts people who will never care about Ilana's work.

We want someone who understands the difference between
virality — and valuable virality.

Who we're looking for

You may come from

You do not need to be a nutrition expert. Ilana is the nutrition expert. Your job is to make people want to hear what she has to say.

The ideal person has

You should genuinely enjoy figuring out:

Why did I watch that? Why did I share that? Why did I follow that person?

This role is probably not for you if…

The person we want
Hears a potentially boring nutrition topic and immediately thinks: "I know how to make people care about this."

And then proves it.

Compensation + 90-day trial

This position will begin as an initial 90-day paid trial engagement. It is an independent contractor (1099) role, paid hourly; we are not offering employee benefits (health insurance, paid time off, etc.) at this time.

First 90 days
$70/hour
  • Approximately 20–25 hours per week
  • 1–2 in-person production days per week in Los Angeles
If we mutually continue
$80/hour
  • Ongoing rate after the 90-day period
  • Potential to transition into a full-time role for the right person

The 90-day period is intentional. Creative chemistry matters enormously in this role.

We want enough time to determine whether:

How to apply

Please do not send us a traditional cover letter. We care much more about how you think.

Everything is submitted through our application form — one organized place, no deck required. It covers seven things:

01

Tell us who you are

Who you are, where you're based, what you're doing currently, and why this role caught your attention. Keep it brief.

02

Show us your work

5–10 examples of short-form content you personally helped concept, write, produce, direct, edit, or creatively shape — and what YOU actually did on each.

03

Audit Ilana

Review Ilana's current social content. What are the 3–5 content territories she should OWN over the next 12 months? We have our own thinking — we intentionally aren't giving it to you.

04

Tell us what you'd stop doing

What would you do less of, or stop completely? And why? You will not offend us.

05

Show us how your brain works

Choose 3 topics from our list and give us 3 completely different short-form concepts for each — hook, opening visual, 3 beats, format. Nine concepts total. No full scripts.

06

Critique us

Choose five recent Ilana Reels and tell us what's preventing them from being as attention-grabbing as they could be — and what YOU would change. Be candid.

07

Give us one idea that makes us a little nervous

One concept you believe we might initially hesitate to make — but that you strongly believe would work. Creative courage, not shock for shock's sake.

Applications that do not include the creative exercise will not be considered.

And please: do not spend hours designing a beautiful presentation. We are hiring your brain, not your deck-building skills.

The form saves a draft in your browser as you type, so you can leave and come back.
